Internet search revealed I'm speaker not working on zoom laptop the only speaker not working on zoom laptop who has encountered this problem.

No joy. BTW, a couple months ago my printer stopped working after a Windows update. Happened to wprking of other people too. Eventually, MS came up with yet another update that fixed it.

Zoom usually requests access to your mic before you join a meeting, but in case you missed it, you can select Join Audio at the bottom of the Zoom window. Make sure you're not muted in Zoom. If the microphone icon has a line through it in your Zoom window, select the Sound icon to unmute yourself.
Make sure your microphone is selected in Zoom. During a meeting, select the up arrow next to the Microphone icon and make sure the desired mic is chosen.
If other people can hear you, but you can't hear them, make sure the right speaker is chosen under Select a Speaker.
Ask the meeting organizer to unmute you. If you think the person hosting the meeting muted you, send them a message in chat and ask to be unmuted. Check your device settings. Go to the device's settings to see if your mic is enabled. Make sure you properly set up your mic in Windows and select the audio input you want on Mac. Close other programs that use your mic.
Make sure other software isn't competing for access to your microphone. Check your app permissions. Go into your device's app settings and ensure Zoom has permission to access your microphone. Update your device's drivers. If you're using Windows, go into the Device Manager to ensure your mic's drivers are up-to-date.
Reboot your device. The reason why rebooting resolves computer problems is that it closes any processes that might be interfering with hardware or software. Mute other nearby audio devices. If you hear an echo, your microphone might be picking up the audio from another source, like a TV or speaker. To avoid hearing an echo in Zoom, everyone should mute their mic when not speaking. Meeting organizers can mute everyone else in the meeting. Adjust Zoom's Advanced Audio Settings. Zoom offers advanced tools to improve audio playback, but they can sometimes have the opposite effect.
If you have ongoing audio problems with your mic, open Zoom while not in a meeting and select the Settings gear , then choose the Audio tab and select Advanced to change these options.

Alternatively, a good quality headset will sound better than the microphone on your computer, and isolate your audio from background noise. Zoom gives you the option of how you connect your audio when you're joining a meeting. You can connect via your computer's audio, or by dialing into a phone number. You should choose the option that gives you the best sound quality, but only choose one, otherwise you'll experience unwanted echo. Make sure to check that your microphone isn't picking up sound from your speaker if you are using an external speaker.
Echo can also occur if you're too close to another person who is on the same Zoom call. One of the most controllable things you can do to improve audio quality during a Zoom meeting is to check your proximity. Too close to the microphone can make your voice sound muffled and accentuate all sorts of unwanted breathing and saliva noises. If you sit too far away, you risk being drowned out. If you're using a microphone built into your computer or webcam, you should position yourself within two feet of it.
With an external microphone, the ideal position should be about six inches away. Zoom, in its default settings enables a suite of sound enhancements to dumb down background noise. The downside is that using these settings can sometimes make your audio choppy. Alternatively, there apps to access that can work better than Zoom's built-in offering.
